Two new
books by internationally acclaimed author Alex Kuo will have their U.S. launch in
two events in his hometown Anacortes next week.
The political
thriller and environmental manifesto The Man Who Dammed the Yangtze and his
new and selected poems from the last half century A Chinaman’s Chance, had their Asia launch at the Hong Kong International Literary Festival last week, followed by a whirlwind speaking
and signing tour at other festivals in Shanghai, Beijing, Chengdu and Sidney.
Kuo has taught writing and American cultural studies at colleges and universities on both sides of the Pacific,
with the last thirty years in residency at Washington State University. His collection of short stories Lipstick, won
the American Book Award in 2002.
Watermark Books will host a
meet-the-author and signing at 3:00 pm on Monday, March 21, and will join with Anchor Art Space to present a reading and reception at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 25. Music will be provided by the Savage
Jazz Trio, and Sherman Alexie will make the introduction.
After
this event, the author will spend the next two weeks on a signing tour of the Pacific Northwest and New Orleans, before taking
on a wider tour in June.
